The Little Bird We Tried to Save ❤️

When I was little, my family loved to go camping. I always felt happy out there among the tall trees and under the stars that looked like tiny lights God had hung just for us.

One evening, while I was playing with my three brothers, we found a tiny bird on the ground. Its wing looked hurt, and it trembled a little, as if it were scared.

My brothers and I knelt beside it. I remember whispering, "It's okay, little bird. We'll help you." We didn't know much about fixing broken wings, but we knew how to care.

We had a small cage with us, so we put the bird inside to keep it safe for the night. I felt proud, like we were doing something important. Before going to sleep, I even prayed, "Please help this little bird get better while we sleep."

The next morning, we ran straight to the cage. I was smiling, ready to see the bird waiting for us. But when I looked inside, my smile disappeared.

The bird was gone.

Instead, a snake was curled up inside the cage. It had slipped through the bars during the night, eaten the bird, and then become too big to get back out.

My heart sank. We had tried so hard to protect the bird, but the cage we thought would keep it safe had trapped it instead. I couldn't understand why something so sad could happen when we were only trying to help.

As I've grown older, I've come to understand something important.

Sometimes we try our very best to protect the things and people we love. We try to keep everyone safe. We try to make everything turn out right. But we can't see everything. We can't stay awake all night. We can't stop every danger, no matter how much we want to.

But God can.

God sees what we cannot see. He watches over us while we sleep. He knows what's hiding in the dark and what waits in the morning. He knows how to care for us in ways we could never imagine.

So now, when I remember that little bird and that morning in the woods, I don't just feel sad. I feel something gentle and reassuring.

I remember that I can love with my whole heart and then trust God to take care of the rest.

Because He never gets tired. He never gets surprised. And He never stops watching over the things and the people I love, the people you love!
